End of Year Summary
Well, most of 2017 was a productive year but it still held host to a lot of setbacks. I’m not as far along in production of the novel as I’d like to be at this point in time but I have to recognize just how much progress I did make this past year. The base character concepts for all of the main characters are complete. I’ve got a good start on the additional characters concepts needed along with some prop and location concepts that I’ve created but haven’t posted on this site yet. I managed to get almost four story drafts finished and will be able to start on Story Draft #5 shortly. I also have this site and the support it’s drummed up for the project. All in all, it has been a successful year.
So what is next for the Shelby Bly Project? I still plan to have the entire graphic novel finished by the end of 2018. I will soon begin writing the final draft of the story (Story Draft #5). Once that and all the concept art is complete, I’ll be able to start work on the story boards and page layouts for the graphic novel. After that, I will begin creating the scenes that will become the novel’s illustrations. I have no idea how long any of that will take and I won’t know until it’s all said and done. Please stay tuned to this blog for production updates and more. 2018 is going to be a very busy and productive year for this novel; far more so than 2017 was.
That’s all for now. I plan to get started on Story Draft #5 tonight (December 30, 2017) and work on some of the other elements when I need to take a break from the story writing. I want to get a good head-start on the work for 2018 tonight. I look forward to telling you all about my progress in the new year.
