Shelby is a twenty-something university student who plans to spend her summer break on an archaeological dig with her father, Dr. Robert Bly, to catch up on lost time. Although her father was once an adventurous globetrotting archaeologist, Shelby is studying to be a simple historian with the goal of one day working in a temperature-controlled museum. Her over-protective father supports this rather than encouraging her to follow in his danger-ridden footsteps. Shelby’s world is about to be turned upside-down when shadows from her father’s past re-emerge.
With the aid of her friends Maia Avanti and Joel Rio, Shelby will try to become an adventurer to unravel the mysteries of both the mythical Vril and the past she thought she knew. Although she finds the prospect of adventuring to be exciting after her previously sheltered life, the reality may be too difficult to accept and to survive.
Concept Art Information
This is the final concept render of Shelby. She’s finally a perfect match for my vision! Now I’ll start working on her alternate outfits since this isn’t all she wears throughout the novel.
Since the last concept, I fixed Shelby’s hair shader which was previously rendering too dark and red (now she’s the blonde she was meant to be) and darkened her lips to a soft rose color so that they are more distinct/can be more easily seen. I also changed the shader on the crystals of her necklace.
Here are some comparisons of the current concept and some of the previous concept renders. The renders on the left are the current version and on the right is the old version. This is a great way to show how each character has evolved over time.
